The Human Rights Campaign Releases Buying For Equality 2010

For the fifth year in a row the Human Rights Campaign has compiled Buying For Equality, a list that ranks hundreds of America's most popular brands based on their treatment of LGBT employees. The guide divides business into categories which include: Apparel & Accessories, Banking & Finance, Eating Out, Food & Beverage, Home & Garden, and Technology. Businesses that the HRC believes consumers should make every effort to support are placed in the green category while those that have made progress but not enough are put in yellow. Businesses that have refused to take part in the study or do not work to further equality are red. This year, a record 305 businesses were ranked at 100 percent. Consumers are encouraged to download the list and support those businesses that are LGBT-friendly. If you are planning a trip keep in mind that Travelocity and Orbitz got a 100 percent rating. Some other 100s include: American Airlines, Continental, Carlson Hotels, Delta, Hyatt, JetBlue, Kimpton, Wynn, Starwood Hotels, US Airways, and Marriott Hotels.
