Embracing Our Differences 2011 Call to Artists
/PN/ The mission of Embracing Our Differences® is to use art as a catalyst for creating awareness and promoting, throughout our community, the value of diversity, the benefits of inclusion and the significance of the active rejection of hatred and prejudice.
Embracing Our Differences® 2011, the 8th annual outdoor art exhibit, will contain 39 billboard-sized (16 feet wide by 12 feet high) original works of art, each accompanied by an inspirational quote.
The exhibit will be displayed from the end of April continuing throughout the month of May, 2011 at Island Park along Sarasota, Florida’s beautiful bay front.
Since 2004, Embracing Our Differences® has been viewed by more than 850,000 visitors. During the same period, 75,000 students and teachers attended the exhibit for a firsthand observation and discussion concerning the importance of diversity in our lives.
After viewing the exhibit, one 8-year old student poignantly commented, “I learned that everyone is going to be someone.”
We invite you to participate in creating a society that is more inclusive for all. Consider submitting an original work of art and know that you are helping make a difference in the lives of many, especially those of our children.
Best In Show (Adult): A single $1,000.00 cash award will be presented to one submission deemed “Best In Show” (adult). College students will be judged in this category.
