VIDEO: 'Don't Ask, Don't Tell' Repealed With Obama's Signature

December 22, 2010 /LGBT News/ Obama signed into law the repeal of the military's "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" policy today, fulfilling a campaign promise and marking a historic step forward for gay rights.
"I am proud to sign a law that brings an end to "Don't Ask, Don't Tell"" Obama said. "No longer will tens of thousands of men and women be asked to live a lie."
But Obama also warned gays in the ranks to stay closeted for a 60-day waiting period until the Pentagon "certifies" that the new policy can be implemented.
Until then, "the old policy remains in effect," Obama said.
During the 17 years the policy was in place, more than 14,000 military members were discharged because of it.

Gays and Lesbians have been serving openly in the Canadian forces for years, and I have never heard of a single problem caused by this. Mr. Obama did a good thing today.
